What we hold
For an account: your email address, whatever name you choose to show, and the surveys you write. For a respondent: their answers, and — unless the survey was collected anonymously — the address they answered from and the browser they used.
Anonymous surveys
When a collector is set to anonymous, no IP address and no browser is recorded at all. It is not hidden or held back; it is never written. This has to be decided before a survey is sent, because a response already collected cannot be made anonymous afterwards.
Where it is held
On servers SurveyAxis operates. Uploads, generated exports and cached results sit on those servers rather than being handed to a third party, and background work runs in the same process as the application.
Who else sees it
Payments are handled by Stripe, which receives what it needs to take a payment and nothing about your surveys. Email is sent through the configured mail server. Nothing else leaves unless you connect it yourself through the API or a webhook.
How long
Responses are kept until you delete them, or for the retention period you set on a survey. Generated export files are deleted after the period set in configuration. Closing your account deletes the surveys you own and removes everything that identified who gave the responses to them.
What you can ask for
A copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. Deletion is available in your account settings and takes effect at once. For anything else, write to us.
